Before you call

What you might be asked

There are no wrong answers here, and you can say you do not know. Having a few facts ready can make the call easier.

  • Your first name and a phone number you can be reached at.
  • Where you are right now, and whether you are safe.
  • What has been happening, in your own words. You do not need the right words.
  • Whether you are thinking about hurting yourself or someone else.
  • Whether there is a child involved, and their age.

If you are calling about someone else, it still helps to call. Crisis staff can tell you what to do next and what you can and cannot arrange on another adult's behalf.

After the immediate moment
